Brookspeed are pleased to offer for sale this Exceptionally Rare Porsche DP Motorsort 935 II. DP Motorsport is a little known tuner and Porsche fettler based in Overath in Germany. Originally founded in 1973 by Ekkehard Zimmermann and known as Design and Plastik. They started out making composite parts for race cars such as wings and chassis for Formula V and Super V race cars. This caught the interest of the Kremer brothers and a partnership was formed to fettle the Porsche 911 race cars. A new chassis and composite body was formed with the addition of a flat slant nosed form. These cars became very successful and where a main part of global sports car racing from 1975 onwards. In 1979 a Porsche 935 K3 driven by Klaus Ludwig won Le Mans 24hr. This car propelled Kremer to legendary Porsche status and the chassis and body was designed and built by DP Motorsport. From this success demand developed for road cars and the first road DP cars were produced from 1979 some three years before Porsche offered the Sonderwunsch program with the Flachbau . The race cars were too extreme for the road only sharing a roof panel with the base car so DP started to make 935-I and 935-II. One version was very much road based with pop up headlights while the other had the headlights built into the front bumper. You could even have a roll cage and a full on race build should you choose. The base car could be a regular carrera or even a convertible but more often a 930 Turbo was chosen as a base. The sky was the limit in terms of how far you wanted to go with the conversion. Just a fibreglass body kit fine, or a full Kevlar body, suspension upgrades and even variable boost and twin turbo’s. The works even extended to interior re trims and custom interior work. Well before singer was even thought of DP were offering a custom tuned Porsche and were the pioneers. This car was believed to be originally ordered through the US importer Fred Opera racing as a standard 930 Turbo. The car left the factory in Stuttgart and made its way to Overath where the conversion was completed before being transported to New York to be collected by its first and only US owner. There are various fax’s confirming the costs of the various parts ordered and the conversion is believed to be 1/21 Kevlar bodies cars. Records of exact numbers where not kept by DP but that number was suggested when contacting them. From here the car was imported to the UK at some stage in 1988 where it has remained ever since. Having just 5 owners since 1988 the car has been cherished and has completed minimal miles. The history is very good and even includes a speeding ticket from this 80’s speed machine. To drive the car feels very fresh and pulls very hard once the lazy turbo has woken up pushing you back into the seat with relentless force. Its an old school driving experience and requires respect. Exact power is not known but its is believed to be somewhere in the range of 400bhp - 500bhp. You are in a car with an accelerative force not to dissimilar to a modern McLaren and with good traction due in part to the rear end weight biassed and the huge 285 wide rear 15” wheel and tyre combination. However with 1980’s brakes discretion is the better part of valour and so to savour the performance you need a long straight with good visibility. Passengers generally tend to swear when the turbo lights up for the first time. Brakes while not strong by modern standards pull the car up straight and require a physical shove. There is very little assistance. The clutch is surprisingly light and so its an easy car to start and the gearbox a 4 speed changes gear easily. It’s a mechanical gearbox and gets quicker when its warm. I have always felt it was best to change gear without rushing allowing the car to breath before the next turbo charged rush to the horizon. Modulating the power while charging gear takes some time in the car due to the on off nature of the power delivery and its very satisfying when you get it right. The steering is heavy and unassisted. At low speeds you get an arm work out, but once rolling its light, but as you load up the suspension in corners it weights up again in an old school way you just don’t get with a modern car. A 930 Turbo is a rare car on the road, but the DP is another level. This is the Athena poster car and without exception everybody stops to look at the car. Camera phones are always coming out to capture the car and every petrol station fill up results in a conversation. “I’ve never seen one of those before”, “What is it”, “That looks insane.” You get the picture. Overall you have a very rare flat nosed Porsche which is lighter and more powerful then any offering from Porsche Sonderwunsch. Built in far smaller numbers and with a provenance that if anything is more original then Porsche flat nosed cars. DP pioneered the flatnose 935 and with Kremer won Le Mans. So for us its a part of Porsche Folklore and a genuine motoring unicorn. Key spec details over and above a 930 Turbo: - Kevlar Body believed to be 1/21 (Bumper, Wings, rear quarters, rear wing, rear bumper) , Ghotti Magnesium Split rims with 225/45/15” fronts and 285/40/15” rear tyres, Engine upgrades with a far larger intercooler and Turbo believed to be 400+ bhp, Custom interior centre console with radar detector built into the dash along with air conditioning. DP 200mph speed and dials, DP 0-2 bar Turbo Gauge, DP Floor mats. This car is located at our Chandlers Ford Showroom SO53 1JH 02382 511115

    • For the two years of Covid, Brookspeed serviced & maintained our 2016 BMW 218SE Convertible. On each occasion, Martin collected the car from us in Ocean Village, drove it to Chandlersford and brought it back that evening MoT'd and serviced (and cleaned!).When we decided, a month ago, to give up driving, Martin offered to sell the car for us. He picked it up, did all (and I mean all) the paperwork including advertising online and now (less than four weeks later) Brookspeed have sold the car a... Read More

    • A BIG thank you to Rob and all the staff at Brookspeed. I can`t thank them enough, I got 5 star plus service from them all. I sold my car using their sale or return service, I got an excellent price for my car. I also used them to get a full service on my Porsche, that also was excellent. I would highly recommend their service`s to anyone. I will definitely use them again. Many thanks Mike Bailey.

    • Great service for MOT and annual service for my much loved Boxster S. I had an issue with the battery a while back and they advised over the phone before dispatching a technician to my home to resolve the issue. Took a donation only for their efforts - fantastic service and I thoroughly recommend for anyone who loves their car. They will too!

    • Really pleased to find this Porsche specialist- they are very knowledgeable and went to a lot of trouble to explain what needed to be done. Technician was very clear when he explained and showed me under my Boxster what required attention and certainly was not there to find work, more so to save me money! The office staff were so helpful and really friendly too. The owner of the business was happy to spend time with me as well so in a summing up I’d say that I would highly recommend this c... • Just got car back from major service - very thorough inspection of car. Staff very friendly and informative. I was kept up to speed and consulted always beforehand if some unexpected parts were faulty and had to be subsequently replaced. Never seen a cleaner car when I picked it up too! Outstanding service!

    • I got my first ever Porsche (a 2001 boxster) a little under a year ago. Whilst I did not get this car from Brookspeed, I visited them for some "novice" advice. Considering I had not made an appointment/did not get my car from them, they were brilliant and were very attentive and very objective. Having spent a great summer driving this car, I've been back to them over the summer to get an indicator stalk replaced/fitted, have a new exhaust and, more recently, following my MOT advisories, had new ... • I'm lucky enough to have been the proud owner of a 2001 986 for three years now and have been using Brookspeed throughout my ownership. From the initial pre-purchase inspection (which helped significantly with the negotiation with the dealer); minor and major servicing; to my most recent exhaust fit. Dealing with them has been a real delight; Martin, Ian, Janine, Jason, Simon and the rest of the workshop crew are all very friendly, professional and willing to help and offer sensible advice whene...
